California, 15 th April, 2013/Press release – H4 VISA-A CURSE By Shah Peerally Productions
Shah Peerally Productions continues its socially dedicated films in raising consciousness. ‘H4 VISA-A CURSE’, is not only a much awaited film for the immigrant community, it is an extremely socially important film that really needs to be seen and talked about. Aptly titled as ‘H4 VISA-A CURSE’, the film highlights the plight of every spouse whether male or female who find themselves in the US with practically nothing to do except wait for the day when they would be a change in their status and they would also be able to work.
For years now, educated and qualified partners of those with H1B visas have been struggling to come to terms with the fact that there is absolutely nothing that they can do to change their quality of life or add to it. The film by the Shah Peerally Productions, seeks to showcase this horror and raise awareness not only amongst the legislators but also amongst the people so that they can voice their opinions against such unjust laws.
Alma is the protagonist of ‘H4 VISA-A CURSE’. Married to a software engineer Raj, Alma is qualified with a Masters Degree from India, but because of the H4visa regulation on spouse of those with H1B visa she is not allowed to work. As a result Alma finds herself in a difficult situation, where she is not allowed to work and all that she can do is manage household chores and wait for her husband to return from work, which is also terribly late, considering that work hours are extreme.
There are millions of women (mostly) and many men, who feel handicapped in such a situation and often end up needing medical intervention because of their depressed conditions. The film is very realistic not only in portraying the pain of so many people but more so because it understands their situation and seeks to get help for them.
Armed with his legal knowledge, Shah Peerally is the best person to make such a film because of his experience in working with such people. The film is an extension of not only the Shah Peerally Productions endeavor to make socially relevant films but also the ongoing fight against H4visa, for which the Shah Peerally Law group has already petitioned.
